When going to Thailand, no list on the internet would exclude the capital city, Bangkok – the beating heart of the country. Exciting and colourful, the city is a vibrant example of Asian life, its famous entertainment districts and shopping opportunities providing a welcoming atmosphere for any tourist or traveller, regardless if they’re alone, and for all ages.

Ayutthaya

An easy list-topper for the list of day trips from Bangkok, this ancient city is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, holding fame as the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam, its remnants still proudly standing as a reminder of history from the distant past. The area is quite large, so you can find much in the way of temples, statues, and classic Siam architecture as you spend the day visiting the area.

Damnoen Saduak Market

A famous floating market, this is also a great choice for an excursion, a bucket-list entry that must be experienced by anyone who wants a glimpse into the more exotic features of Thai daily life. A feast for the senses, the vendors float along in their signature long-tail boats, offering wares ranging from food, to produce, trinkets, and souvenirs. Consider dropping by for some unique shopping!

Wat Saman Rattanaram

If you’re into the more cultural and religious aspects of Bangkok, consider stopping over at Wat Saman Rattanaram, a Hindu temple with the largest Ganesh statue in the country. It also stands as a reminder of religious collaboration between the Buddhist and Hindu members of the country, and is quite a scenic location to visit – not to mention tranquil.

Discovered in 1975, Erawan Park is a place overflowing with the beauty and splendour of the natural kind, with waterfalls, hiking trails, and caves to show you the blessings of nature as they come.
