Yarra Valley

A short 1-hour ride from the city, the area of  Yarra Valley is a great choice to visit from most Melbourne city hotels, due to its convenient distance. The valley itself is famous for its Shiraz, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc, so make sure to sample away while you’re there.

Dandenong Ranges

Offering an escape to the more natural parts of Australia in a flash, the Dandenong Ranges lie an hour away from the city as well, providing exciting hikes, great views, and a set of adorable villages to explore. This area has the best of a lot of things, whether it’s the natural experiences of the park or the culinary adventures of the restaurants within its grasp. It’s best if you visit and discover what hides for yourself.

Mornington Peninsula

Although a slightly longer distance at 90 minutes away, the Mornington Peninsula can’t be beaten when it comes to family-friendly beaches – a compact place full of the luxuries of the coin, with wineries, art galleries, opulent resorts, and more – including a 3,000-hectare national park. Make sure to check around the neighbourhood for some boutique hunting opportunities as well, it’s all a delight to experience.

Daylesford and Hepburn Springs

With the natural mineral waters of the springs as its main features,  the twin towns of Daylesford and Hepburn are a lovely choice to add to your itinerary, yet only 90 minutes away again. There’s a historic bathhouse, a cider brewery, and an eclectic, almost contradictory vibe to the area that’s hard to put into words. You can also visit the place all year round, so you don’t have to spend too much time planning your way there.
